Huntington School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive with over 1500 students on roll including 320 in our Sixth Form.

Our school purpose is to inspire confident learners who will thrive in a changing world. This purpose lies behind everything we do at Huntington. We focus upon learning how to learn and how to forge positive relationships with other people. It is because of this focus that a recent Ofsted inspection said that ‘Huntington’s pupils make exceptional progress to reach high standards.’ It also judged that ‘The quality of care provided by the school for its pupils is outstanding.’ Our school purpose is driven by the knowledge that, as the world changes and new technologies develop, our students will have to learn new skills throughout their lives.

The school is a Technology College. This means that whilst it remains a comprehensive school it has been given additional funding to develop pupils’ abilities in Mathematics, Science and Technology. Other subjects, too, make more use of modern technology as a result of the school’s special technology provision.

Our examination results are excellent. We continually achieve very high value added scores in tables which measure student progress against prior attainment. It is for this reason that Ofsted inspectors judged that ‘Parents are rightly pleased with the excellent progress which the school helps their children to make.’

We offer pupils a wide range of extra curricular activities: curriculum support activities, a wide variety of sports and other activities such as bands, choirs, drama, dance and a Christian Union. We have a range of international links including those with the Salvation Army Junior Secondary School in Begoro, Ghana, with the Gymnasium Georgianum, Vreden in Germany and with the Lycée René Descartes in Rennes, France. We offer visits to a variety of destinations including France and Germany, Russia and China, Washington DC for Politics students, Liverpool and Amsterdam for Art students, numerous theatre trips and a two yearly sponsored 15km walk. Our Charity week sees our Sixth Form organising events in the school which raise over £3,500 each year for charity.

We have a wide range of adult learning activities on our campus each week and we offer children’s sports camps throughout most of the holiday periods.
